Lee has administered Florida's Art in State Buildings Program since 1994. After receiving her Masters of Fine Art in Sculpture with a minor in Art History, Lee Modica spent subsequent years as a visual art curator, as gallery director for private, non-profit and collegiate art galleries and as a public art professional. In addition, she taught art history and contemporary visual art at the college and university level. Lee was a founding Board member of the Florida Association of Public Art Administrators, the first professional service organization of its kind in the nation. Lee currently serves as President of FAPAA. In 1999, she was elected, as the only representative of a state public art program, to the inaugural 15-member policy Council of the Public Art Network (PAN), a national professional organization formed under the umbrella of the Americans for the Arts. Lee lives with her husband on more than 10 acres east of Tallahassee along with a Border Collie, a German Shepherd, a Newfoundland, a Bernese Mountain Dog, and 14 macaws.
