Text Formatting Options
Bold and Italics
To make text bold, surround it with asterisks (*).
For example:
*This text will display as bold*
To make text italicized, surround it with underscores (_).
For example:
_This text will display as italic_
Do not include any spaces between the underscores or asterisks and the text that you want italicized or bolded. The following examples are incorrect:
For example:
* This text will not display as bold because of the spaces *
_ This text will not display as italicized because of the spaces _
_ This example is also incorrect *
Lists
To make a bulleted list, use an asterisk (*) followed by a space to indicate the list item. Be sure to press enter twice at the end of the list.
For example:
Board officers include:
* Chair
* Secretary
* Treasurer
To make a numbered list, use an pound sign (#) followed by a space to indicate the list item. Be sure to press enter twice to end the list.
For example:
Primary audiences:
# Community members
# School children
# Travelers
Make sure that you use a space after the asterisk or pound sign and before the list item begins.
Tables
You can create simple tables by using the pipe character (|) to indicate columns. Be sure to keep the same number of columns in each row and press enter twice to end the table.
For example:
