Kuniko Yamamoto holds audiences spellbound as she tells folktales from Japan combined with folk songs, original masks, origami, highly stylized movement, and a touch of magic. Kuniko provides a magical entry into Japanese culture and the art of simplicity. In her new show, Origami Tales, mythological character masks and puppets, amazing flowers, and a six foot long dragon - all made from origami - set the stage while Kuniko shares heartfelt stories from ancient Japan, Kojiki, and Nihon-Shoki. Japanese Storytelling includes stories that portray the culture and moral perspective of Japan while social ideals are illustrated through commentary and description of Japanese tradition. Audiences are encouraged to compare Japanese and American tales, arts, and cultural elements.
