Send all work to: THE Creative Center: Arts in Healthcare Deadline: September 24, 2010Airport Restroom Vestibules ProjectCall to Artists The Broward Cultural Council Public Art and Design Program is seeking to commission a professional artist or team of artists to create original artworks for all restroom vestibule walls (a total of 42) in Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The artworks must create strong visual consistency that assists travelers with the identification of restroom locations throughout the terminals. These entrances shall be visible from the distance, eye-catching, and easily recognized. The selected artist or team of artists shall design original artworks that offer a unique and positive visual experience for airport visitors that is reflective of the region and that enhance the aesthetic appearance of these high-traffic spaces. The artworks must be able to withstand heavy physical contact and be permanent, durable, easy to clean, and low maintenance. Each one of the 42 entrance walls measures approximately 4’ wide by 9’ high. The total budget established for the Project is $450,000. One of the leading overseas centers for independent study and advanced research in the arts and the humanities, the Academy offers up to thirty fellowships for periods ranging from six months to two years. Rome Prize winners reside at the Academy’s eleven-acre center in Rome and receive room and board, a study or studio, and a stipend. Deadline: November 22, 2010Artist-In-ResidenceResidency The artist in residence studio is designed to function as a real artist studio. The program is open to artists working in a variety of media including but not limited to, painting, sculpture, installation, clay, textiles, illustration, and new media. The artist takes residence in the museum approximately 25 hours a week for 12 weeks. During open studio hours the public is welcome to talk to the artist about what they do and how they make their art. During special drop-in times, the artist will work on projects decided on by the artist and MCM program staff. Uninterrupted, private studio time is also part of the program to encourage the continuation of the artist's work. At the conclusion of the residency, the artist will contribute one of the pieces worked on during the residency to MCM's permanent collection. The final piece must be completed before the end of the residency. The artist is solely responsible for the creation of their final piece. The artist also serves as the visiting art teacher to the students who attend MCM after school program and the MCM Early Childhood Institute. In addition, the artist also creates art activities for Free Museum Evenings (every 3rd Friday of the month). Artists and jewelry artisans now have a direct path to collectors in key affluent markets thanks to SeaFair: The Megayacht Venue. International Fine Art Expositions (IFAE) and SeaFair founders David and Lee Ann Lester have announced the “Artist Direct” program, to allow face to face interactions between artists and collectors aboard the world’s first mobile megayacht venue. "The Show provides an interactive experience for artists and artisans with current and prospective clients,” said David Lester. “Collectors can directly view contemporary art, glass and jewelry in a luxurious shipboard environment.
