| TALLAHASSEE, FL – Secretary of State Glenda E. Hood announces an exhibition of paintings and mixed media works by Indiantown artist Gail Curcio entitled, Faces of Florida. The exhibition, which is on display in the Governor’s Gallery, will run from August 22 through November 19, 2003.
Fascinated by Florida’s wealth of visual imagery, artist Gail Curcio has created a series of artworks that depict the state’s beauty, history, and diversity. Utilizing a wide variety of subjects, from animals and architecture to historic scenes and sporting events, her works capture the many faces of our multifaceted state. She states, “It is my hope that the Faces of Florida series will inspire a sense of pride in our local neighborhoods, communities, and the State of Florida as a whole.” An accomplished artist, Gail Curcio relocated to Indiantown, Florida from Southwestern Connecticut and has since painted the local wildlife and scenery. Her works have been on display throughout Florida, including the Indiantown Library, Indiantown’s Historic Seminole Inn, and the Chamber of Commerce. She studied art at the Silvermine School of Art in Connecticut. The Governor’s Gallery at the Florida Capitol is not open to the general public.
