TALLAHASSEE, FL – Secretary of State Glenda E. Hood announces an exhibition of student works entitled In Print: Learning the Language of Art. Featuring the artworks of elementary and secondary students from Leon County, the exhibit will be on display at the Arts Learning Gallery from May 16 through June 7, 2003. An opening reception will take place on Friday, May 16 from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

This exhibition is designed to highlight the talents of Leon County students as well as demonstrate the diverse and innovative approaches of their art teachers. Each piece of artwork shows the creative use of one or more elements of art: line, shape, space, texture, color, or value. The exhibition will be held in tandem with an exhibition at Florida State University’s Museum of Fine Arts entitled In Print: The Language of Art, which showcases printmaking works by artists in the Southeast. A public reception will be held on May 16 and will include a trolley for visitors to travel between the Arts Learning Gallery (at the R.A. Gray Building) and the FSU Museum of Fine Arts.

The Arts Learning Gallery is located on the first level of the R.A. Gray Building, home of the Museum of Florida History, at 500 South Bronough Street in downtown Tallahassee. Hours are: Monday-Friday 9:00-4:30, Saturday 10:00-4:30, and Sunday Noon-4:30 p.m. For more information about the Arts Learning Gallery, please contact Sandy Shaughnessy at the Division of Cultural Affairs at (850) 245-6480 or visit www.florida-arts.org
