Individual Artist Fellowships Announced

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Secretary of State Glenda E. Hood is pleased to announce the 2005 Individual Artist Fellowship recipients. (a complete list of all recipients can be found at: www.florida-arts.org/FellowshipResults04-05.htm)

The Fellowship Program recognizes the creation of new artworks by individuals of exceptional talent and demonstrated ability. Fellowship awards support the general artistic and career advancement of Florida’s remarkable artists.

“The Department of State is delighted to recognize the exceptional work of these artists through the fellowship program,” said Secretary Hood. “We applaud and support their continued contributions to Florida’s cultural landscape.”

Twenty-five fellows and fourteen honorable mentions were named through the program, for a total of $125,000 awarded in the categories of Dance, Music, Folklife/Traditional Arts, Literature, Theatre, and Interdisciplinary. Names of both the fellowship and honorable mention recipients can be found below, or on the Division’s website, www.florida-arts.org.

Visual Arts (both two and three dimensional) and Media Arts applicants are eligible to apply in 2005 for the 2006 award year. Guidelines will be posted on the Division’s website approximately eight weeks prior to the deadline of June 1, 2005.
