TALLAHASSEE, FL – Secretary of State Glenda E. Hood announces an exhibition of acrylic paintings and digital photomontage works entitled, Left Handed Visions…of a Right Handed World by Delray Beach artist Karen Rose. The exhibition will be on display from July 11 through October 2, 2003 in the Cabinet Meeting Room of the Florida State Capitol Building.

Influenced by Surrealist masters like Rene Magritte, Karen Rose has created a series of works that she refers to as Cerebralism. She states, “In an age where the only unchartered frontiers lie within our minds, I attempt to reach the viewer on a cerebral level by creating a space where one’s spiritual self is free to roam and explore.” Inspired by the natural beauty of Florida, her brilliantly colored pieces incorporate the sky and water in dreamlike compositions, challenging the viewer’s perception and stimulating the imagination.

Karen Rose has exhibited in both solo and group shows throughout Florida. She is a member of the Boca Museum Artists Guild, the Palm Beach County Cultural Council, and the National League of American Pen Women. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in art and design from Hunter College in New York.

This exhibition is part of the Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs’ Capitol Complex Exhibition Program. The Cabinet Meeting Room is located on the Lower Level of the Capitol.
