Influenced
by the work of Irving Penn and Bert Stern, J.D. Hayward opened his
Pensacola photography studio in the late 1960's. In the 1990's, Hayward
began to develop a surrealistic style, influenced by Rene Magritte.
Recognized as a master printer, he combines technical expertise in
the darkroom with unbridled imagination. Multiple negatives are combined
into a single print that takes the viewer into a world of mysticism
and fantasy.
Hayward's work is represented
in both permanent museum and private collections. His photographs
have been published in the Miami Herald, St. Petersburg Times, Photographer's
Forum Magazine, the Best of Photography Annual, and Shutterbug Magazine.
Since 1990, he has had seven solo exhibitions, and participated in
numerous invitational and juried exhibitions throughout the U.S.
