A product of a creative family that includes inventors, writers, painters and draftsmen, art has always been a part of Kephart's life. A graduate of New York State University and Albright Art School, she has accumulated more than 25 years of exhibiting and teaching experience. She has exhibited extensively throughout Florida and New York. Her pastels are included in numerous corporate and private collections.

"Rather than imitating a scene, I draw emotions and feelings from my sketch books and photographs, weaving several images together,” says Kephart. “The velvety texture of velour paper lends itself to the soft middle and backgrounds of pastel artworks. The sharpness and richness of the foregrounds are achieved with collage-like techniques incorporating paper.
