Description
Flamenco is the ultimate Hispanic musical form and Flamenco Puro excels in quality, artistic excellence, and audience excitement. The company is directed by Clarita Filgueiras, who has a rich background of dance and theatre through years of experience "on the floor" as lead dancer with the New York/Madrid dance company Carlota Santana - Flamenco Vivo, work with the renowned Gypsy Kings, and numerous other companies from Spain.
A full-length performance entails a varied range of dances and musical pieces within the flamenco genre; the dances are solos, duets, and group numbers interspersed with guitar or singing solos. The focus of the lecture/ demonstrations and workshops can be on dance and technique such as footwork, hand movements, castanets, the manipulation of shawl or fan, styles, and rhythm as well as the history and culture of Andalusia, Spain. Students will have the opportunity to learn and perform short dances. All choreography and instruction are tailored to the specific audience age group.

A fact filled, entertaining touring lecture/demonstration. The focus is on presenting facts about Ponce de Leon, his life, and the discovery of Florida interspersed with Flamenco dances, some being inspired in the New World "ida y vuelta" as they are known (going and coming). Each dance is preceded by an explanation of an accompanying element which is particular to the dance, be it a fan, shawl, or castanet as well as an explanation of Flamenco, the History and Culture of Spain, and fun facts pertaining to Ponce de Leon and his discovery of Florida. Handout materials can accompany the lecture for children. Reference for further reading about Ponce de Leon can also be offered for adults. These dances can be accompanied by live or recorded music. A full-length lecture/demonstration entails a varied range of dances and musical pieces within the flamenco genre and can last from 45 minutes to 1 hour. The dances are solos, duets, or group numbers. The dances are interspersed with guitar and/or cante (singing) solos. All performances are suitable for all ages. In certain cases Flamenco Puro tailors topics according to age groups. Presentations can be tailored for children, adults, or all ages.
