Artist and Activities
Edward Cotton is a blues musician who is well known for his solo performances of finger style and bottleneck guitar and harmonica. His programs provide an interactive introduction to the blues that feature multiple musical instruments and engaging historical insight and filled with timeless songs about dogs, cows, working, laziness, money, and crazy adventures all taken from pre-WWII artists and delivered in an authentic and age-appropriate fashion. The show culminates in an audience-inspired grade-specific, humorous blues song written on the spot. Older students (above 8th grade) can attend the same program, but the social and historical issues discussed will be about racism, economics, and the Great Depression.
